Car & Wheel Repair – How-tos & tips from GLOSSDOC

Car & Wheel Repair in the GLOSSDOC guides: step-by-step how-tos, practical tips and the right products to go with them.

Painting your own wheels, touching up small paint damage, choosing the right clear coat: this section is about repairs to wheels and paint – from preparation with silicone remover through primer and blending paint to sealing with 2K clear coat. The guides come from our DEKRA-certified workshop, where we refurbish wheels. Each article shows the products it mentions, and you can add them straight to your cart.

The most detailed article shows how to paint wheels yourself: sand, degrease, prime, apply colour and seal with 2K clear coat. Typical mistakes are coats that are too thick, drying times that are too short and painting in the cold or in high humidity. A 200 ml can is often enough for individual spots; for a full set of wheels the 500 ml can is worth it. It is best to work at 15 to 25 °C in a well-ventilated room with little dust. Several thin coats with a short flash-off time in between give a smoother finish than one thick coat, which tends to run. The clear coat must be fully cured before the wheels are fitted. The Car & Wheel Repair collection shows which products you need for each step, in the order of the work steps.

You will find the matching products in the collection Car & Wheel Repair. Terms such as 2K clear coat in the glossary, Pot life in the glossary or Blending paint in the glossary are explained in the glossary.
