What the film is about
The film briefly shows what the GLOSSDOC 1K Blending Paint is for: soft, virtually invisible transitions for spot and partial repairs. When you paint from a spray can, a rough, matt fringe of half-dried droplets is left at the edge of the spray pattern. The blending paint dissolves this overspray so the new clear coat merges into the old paint without a visible edge.
As a 1K product it comes ready to use in the spray can, needs no hardener, dries quickly and can be polished early. It is compatible with common clear coat systems, so it also goes on the edge of a 2K clear coat, and suits smart repair, small paint touch-ups and partial repairs on bodywork and wheels.
Step by step
- Shake the can well and test the spray pattern on a piece of masking.
- Spray straight after the last coat of clear, while the overspray at the edge is still fresh.
- Point the spray away from the fresh clear coat so only the edge area catches the mist.
- Work thinly: one or two light passes are usually enough – do not spray the centre of the repair.
- Polish the transition with a fine polish once dry; the times are on the label.
Tip: On matt or satin surfaces an invisible spot transition is hardly possible, because polishing is not an option.
